As a designer I like to work in many different mediums, however my favourite projects generally involve some kind of website, designed in Flash. Here are some examples of the flash pieces I have created over the past couple of years.

Professional Practice

For the professional practice unit we had to form a group of 4 people and create a design group, making various promotional materials such as posters, flyers, etc in order to establish ourselves as an identity, since I was the only one in my group with knowledge in flash I volunteered to compile our work into a website which would reflect our business identity.

Our design group was called Void, this name spawned from our views on design, we believe designers should always look beyond normal design to create something new and fresh.

Play 2 Create

For this unit we had to create a flash piece which reflected the themes and ideas of a movie of our choosing. After much thought I choose to case my project upon the V for Vendetta film. This is my final piece which is a simulation of a retro computer database where you play the role of an investigator working for the government, this piece is designed to allow the user to get what they want out of the experience by giving them the choice to read various e-mails and news items.

On the final part of the program where your signal is being traced, I made the map zoom in on the building I was giving the presentation in, after allowing the trace to go through you see a looped image of myself in the presentation room, I have to say that it did make a very good effect on presentation day.

Flow

Flow was the working title for a project aimed at designing mobile phone applications. It was designed as a way to allow the user to view to manage all of their bank accounts on the fly. Various features included:

• Account Management - Transfer funds instantly across registered bank accounts
• Financial Forecast - A calendar which automatically detects future standing orders and calculates your balance according to your current amount
• Alerts - Used in conjunction with the forecast feature to alert the user when a payment is approaching, and if the account has insufficient funds.

Design Ethics

For my design ethics project I decided to try and create a piece of flash work which told users about the thought processes and symbology involved in poster advertisements. I chose the example of a perfume advert and largely based the design and layout of the site to be similar to the website of my chosen product, so I could provide a parody experience of the same product.
